Justice, inspired by a real rescue named Champ Champion, represents the loyalty and strength that sparked years of rescue work. In Book Two, Mystery joins the journey, inspired by Faith, a longtime Dogtoli rescue whose resilience reflects the quiet courage of animals who have endured hardship yet still long for love.

In the series, Bethany is asked to foster a dog whose past is a mystery. She is older, in need of safety and stability. What begins as temporary quickly becomes permanent—because some companions aren’t just fostered, they’re family.
